AERL Cloud Quickstart
Get your energy monitoring system up and running in minutes.
Sign up for an account
Visit aerl.cloud/signup (opens in a new tab) to create your AERL Cloud account.
Required Information:
- Full Name
- Email Address
- Phone Number
- Password and confirmation
Complete the reCAPTCHA verification and check your inbox for a confirmation email to activate your account.
Create your organization
After logging in for the first time, you'll be prompted to create an organization.
Required Information:
- Business Name
- Billing Phone Number
- Billing Email Address
- ABN (Australian Business Number) - optional but validated if provided
You'll automatically become the organization owner with full access to all features.
If you're joining an existing organization, ask an admin to send you an invitation instead of creating a new one.
Add your first location
Locations represent physical sites where your equipment is installed.
- Click Add Location on the dashboard
- Enter location details:
- Name: Site identifier (e.g., "Main Office", "Solar Farm A")
- Address or Coordinates: Enter street address or GPS coordinates (lat,lng format)
- Notes: Optional additional information
- Use the interactive map to fine-tune the exact position
- Save the location
Claim your gateway device
Gateways automatically collect data from your energy equipment and send it to AERL Cloud. Setup is completely automated.
- Click the + button in the portal
- Enter Device Information (from back label of device):
- Serial Number: The unique device identifier
- Pin Code: Security code printed on device label
- Assign to Location:
- Choose existing location from dropdown, or
- Create new location with name, address, and map positioning
- Complete setup - your gateway will appear in the gateways list
That's it! No device configuration needed. The gateway automatically connects and starts sending data once claimed.
Start monitoring
Once your gateway connects, you'll see:
- Real-time status on your dashboard within minutes
- Device discovery as equipment is detected automatically
- Live metrics including:
- Battery state of charge
- Solar production (voltage/current)
- AC load consumption
- Equipment temperatures
- Automatic alerts for configured conditions
Set up your team
Invite team members to collaborate:
- Navigate to Organization Settings
- Click Invite User
- Enter email and select role:
- Admin: Full management access
- Technician: Monitor and acknowledge alerts
- Viewer: Read-only access
- Restricted Viewer: Single location access
- Optionally create User Groups to restrict access to specific locations
Configure alerts
Set up proactive monitoring:
- Go to Alerts → Rules
- Click Add Alert Rule
- Define PromQL query for conditions like:
- Device offline detection
- Temperature thresholds
- Voltage boundaries
- Set severity level and duration
- Add email receivers for notifications
